The Start of Something New . . .

Fall always feels like a time for beginnings, my niece started college this year, my nephew started high school this year, and it is time for me to start something new too!

If you loved my monthly layout classes and you loved my project classes then don't despair. I am working on a plan to start a monthly subscription service for a New 2 Page Layout and a New Papercrafting Project EVERY WEEK! I also want to add in some online videos (okay I really don't know how to do this but my 14 year old nephew tells me it is easy peasy), and other cool stuff. So how fun will this be?

You will have the option to either just subscribe to the handouts or to buy the project and page kits. This way you can either create with brand new stuff, or use product from your stash (come on we all know what paper hoarders we all are!). Okay, so I totally realize that many of you have PILES of partially finished projects, or even worse kits that have never been opened. So in the interest of promoting healthy scrapbooking habits, I am going to start hosting some free workshop evenings - or maybe afternoons to assemble the new page kits and project kits and even to add some photos.

All of this is still in the planning stages, but my goal is to get this all going later this week. Yesterday I picked out some super cute new Cosmo Cricket paper for my first weekly paper project (hint- grandparents day is just around the corner) and a cute layout. The vintage vibe of their new Togetherness line is just perfect for a Grandparent's brag book.
I welcome any and all comments, suggestions, questions, guidance, etc. even potential names for my new venture- is weeklypaperprojects.com too lame?
Cheers!

Layouts from my July and August Classes

Here are some layouts from my July and August Classes. I almost always do 2 page layouts, I just have too many photos for just 1 page. For more photos of my projects you can also visit my gallery on 2 Peas in a Bucket. Click here.

Enjoy!

Big Changes for me too

Hey
Well this was a tough decision week for me, but I am not going to be teaching at The Mad Scrapper in Issaquah any longer. I don't really like discussing personal stuff, so the details don't really matter. I still really love the store and the owners but it just won't continue to be a fit for me. I am sad, Tuesday night was my last class there. I have taught in the store since 2003, when I came back from my first CKU and had just made my very first mini album.

So, now more time for Scrap Yard Chicks, spending time with my parents, my mom is supposed to be coming home from rehab next week (the kind for a broken hip- not like Lindsey Lohan), helping out John with his real estate biz, etc.

I am going to continue to post projects on my blog, I have a new subscription idea that I am going to pursue for weekly paper projects- kind of like the Thursday Free For All classes that I did at The Mad Scrapper. Stay tuned!

Changes for Scrap Yard Chicks

Ooh that sounds very ominous doesn't it? Maybe because I have been looking at too much cool Halloween paper lately.
Well, as we all know our world is always a changing, and we have a change here at Scrap Yard Chicks too. Some of you might already know, but our good friend and fellow Chick Kathy is no longer working with us. We wish her well with her future endeavors and will miss her fun personality at our events.
So that just leaves two original Chicks left, Darcie and Kerry. It is funny since we have known each other the longest, we figure we have been scrapbooking together for 10+ years. We met scrapbooking at our friend Serena's library crop in Issaquah. Wow, there has certainly been lots of scrapbooking and photographs along the way.
What does this change mean for our upcoming events and classes? Its all good for our customers. We will be bringing in some outside teachers to develop projects and teach classes at our upcoming events- be on the look out for the samples for our Fall Workshop Weekend very soon. Darcie and I have been talking to a few different ladies- we are lucky to have so many talented paper crafters in our area. It is really inspiring to see some of the amazing work that people have put together. So our customers get a wider range of project styles, but with the same Scrap Yard Chicks attention to every detail, TONS of new products, and all of the extra touches that set us apart.
If you have any questions about the changes at Scrap Yard Chicks, or have an amazing paper crafter that you would like to introduce us to- please send us an email at mailto:scrapyardchicks@hotmail.com or to mailto:kerryannbarker@hotmail.com.

Thanks! Happy Scrapping!

Project I taught last night

Here are some photos of a project I taught last night at The Mad Scrapper.

Really simple book made of 12 x 9 Manila Envelopes. I bound them with the Cinch. The paper is Jillibean Soup. Love it.

There is one envelope for each month of the school year to stash papers, art projects, ticket stubs, newsletters, report cards, etc.

On The Beach Book for Thursday's Class

Here is the project for my class this Thursday at http://www.madscrapper.com/

It is using the Graphic 45 On The Boardwalk collection, lots of great embellishments including crepe paper, beads, charms, buttons, flowers, tags.

The book is 8x8 chipboard.

If you are coming to class bring your favorite brown ink and LOTS of pop up foam dots. I used a whole package on this book.

New Project for Thursday's Class

at The Mad Scrapper in Issaquah. Call the store if you want to sign up. The Thursday classes are free, you pay for your supplies and can buy the directions if you want.

The Album is made with the red, white and blue We R Memory Keepers collection Old Glory. The pages are 6x8 and 6x6 and I used two different bindings, tied pages and an old favorite, folded paper strips with wet adhesive.
